So what's it all about? It's all about hand made. I
love to make, always have, since I was that rosy cheeked toddler on
a chilly Scottish beach. From shells and sandcastles to crayons and
paper, then needlework and hand spinning. Taking the time and care to make something by hand means more and more in this technology-driven age. You want to know that love has gone into the creation of an object, you appreciate the qualities that make it different from production line clones, and you like it to be quirky or to make you smile. You may be looking for a gift for others, a celebration treat, a unique design, a colourful use of recycled materials. Well, everything in the Emporium has a handmade element. It may be by me or a guest maker, it may be stitched or knitted or painted or embellished, and most items have recycled elements in them. The ‘Mild Animals’ for example, are generally built from felted knitwear, remnants of fabric and salvaged buttons, the manilla pouches for my cards are cut down old legal envelopes whose flaps didn't want to stick any more. Most stitched items are one-offs so when they’re gone, they’re gone. But I'm gradually adding new goodies so next time you look there will probably have been a change round in the toy cupboard.
Payment is by Paypal. It’s easy, it’s secure, it’s used the world over and you don’t have to sign up to Paypal in order to pay in this way. Postage is as simple as I can make it. If you like the site please tell your friends (or keep it to yourself but buy lots!) Gift orders are attractively wrapped. Otherwise though, I recycle packaging wherever possible. Light items do not usually present a problem. SELLING IT TWICE! I update the website as quickly as I can but if you 'buy' a one-off item that someone else has just bought, before I have had a chance to mark it up as sold, I will contact you to arrange a refund or replacement. Please also be aware that although the Paypal checkout page allows you to increase the quantity of any item you purchase, I do not have a similar inbuilt device that makes duplicate stock - if the item details say there's only one of something then there really is only one of it!
